Vocal Teacher, Singer:
Kasey Stewart (mezzo-soprano), a native of Plattsburgh, NY, received her BA in music and her MM in Vocal Performance from Binghamton University. She serves on the voice faculties of Elmira College and Corning’s 171 Cedar Arts Center in New York.
Kasey is a founding member of The Singing Actor’s Studio with Jake and Jill Gardner, in Binghamton, NY. With The Singing Actor’s Studio, Kasey performed the role of Zita in Gianni Schicchi, The Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte and Sally in Barber’s A Hand of Bridge. As a member of the Resident Artist Training Program at Tri-Cities Opera, Kasey performed leading roles in Suor Angelica (La Zia Principessa, La Badessa), and Amahl and the Night Visitors (Mother) and was featured as Bertha in The Barber of Seville. Kasey’s career has also led her to accept leading roles in several musicals, namely, Chicago, A Little Night Music and Fiddler on the Roof. She debuted at the Cider Mill Playhouse in their 2004 production of The Most Happy Fella.
Ms. Stewart has been a featured artist with the Binghamton Summer Savoyards in their past productions of Iolanthe, Utopia Limited, The Mikado, The Grand Duke, Princess Ida, Yeomen of the Guard and The Sorcerer. As an oratorio soloist, Kasey has been seen as Eve in Haydn’s The Creation, Angel and Contralto II in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Alto soloist in Bach’s Magnificat, Soprano II soloist in Mozart’s Mass in C Minor and Alto soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria.
Her most recent distinction was as a Finalist for the Merola program of the San Francisco Opera. She originated the role of Female Redwood in the World Premiere of Randall Eng’s opera, Florida, with Opera Cleveland. She also appeared in their 2006 production of The Pirates of Penzance. Kasey has sung with the Binghamton Philharmonic in Osvaldo Golijov’s Night of the Flying Horses and Manuel DeFalla’s El Amor Brujo. Other performances include concerts at the historic Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, NY, the Jane Pickens Theatre and Astor’s Beechwood Mansion in Newport, RI, Ventfort Hall in Lenox, MA and the Titanic Historical Society. She recently appeared as a soloist for the Summer Savoyards’ 50th anniversary gala concert.
Her current passion involves presenting anti-stress workshops from her Singer is Spirit Voice Studio in Binghamton, which include music, play and the use of the right side of the brain to relieve stress. She debuted her newest workshop at Corning Incorporated in Corning, NY. Recent performances include a concert at the historic Stanford White Casino Theatre in Newport, RI.
