Answer:
The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a national program for infants and toddlers with disabilities. The program was started by Congress in 1986. The Early Intervention Program offers support and therapeutic services to families with disabled children.
In order to be eligible for the Early Intervention Program, children must be under the age of 3 and have a developmental delay or a confirmed disability by a physician. The disability must be one or more of the following:
- Physical
- Cognitive
- Social-emotional
- Communication
- Adaptive
A family who wishes to apply for assistance through the Early Intervention Program should contact their county Department of Public Health for an assessment.
