While it may be hard to imagine summer camp this month, the camps are already gearing up for the next season. Last week I received the notice that registration is now open for my children for the 2013 camp year. After a little research I discovered that many special needs camps (physical disabilities, chronic illness, autism and more) will begin accepting applications next week for the upcoming camp season, and due to popularity and limited staff, the available spots close up quickly.
The following are new articles I've written about camps and camping, two of which are resource lists for special needs camps in North America. Many of these camps also offer respite care throughout the year. It isn't too early to begin planning for summer camp, as well as getting all of the necessary paperwork and scholarship applications in order!
